SEA Pass Travel Seminar #2

.April 19, 2017

Seattle RAFA members returned to the Burien Library to hear about the retiree groups' meeting with CEO Oscar Munoz and President Scott Kirby on April 12th (for details click HERE ) and to learn "How to get out of Seattle" using ZED tickets on Other Airlines or confirmed seats on United (myUAdiscount).  Kirk Moore flew up from SFO again to present the seminar and he emailed PDF notes to all attendees a few days later.

Everyone learned how to fly to some beautiful waterfalls in Croatia with Lufthansa Airlines. Visit the RAFA Other Airline travel page for a guide.  Later we booked full revenue "myUAdiscount" tickets via FlyingTogether so we wouldn't miss a cruise ship date in Hawaii.

Kirk also covered "going mobile" using smart phones and tablets to book travel and check loads on United. Visit the Use United's app for Pass Travel page for a step-by-step guide to get the app, join MileagePlus and link them in your Employee Profile. For more pass travel stuff, visit the Travel Benefits tab in the left column.

SEA Pass Travel Seminar #1

.February 2, 2017

.Seattle RAFA officers and members at the seminar.

L-R: Julie Beffa (Secretary), Martha Casne (President), Debbi Vandenberg (VP), Cherina Byrne (Treasurer).

Approximately 45 members attended a comprehensive seminar about United's Pass Travel Policy and a live tour of Flying Together and employeeRES.  Kirk Moore, RAFA's International Travel Benefits Chair, flew up from San Francisco to present the material. It was digitally projected on a large screen in the Burien Library meeting room and nobody had to take notes because Kirk sent a pdf of the seminar content to all who signed up!

Attendees learned about the Pass Travel program, how to log onto FlyingTogether, how to view their health care plan in YBR, go shopping for airline-discounted items, explore the Travel page, update pass riders, generate a pass travel report, check their "years of service", calculate their board date and edit their TSA secure documents. Then Kirk listed for three different flights; checking loads, the pass rider lists on those flights and how to change or cancel them. He also covered the advantages of using the United app (if linked to a MileagePlus account).

You may read a one page description of United's Pass Travel policy for retirees by clicking on:

On March 2nd the First B727 (AKA "the baby") arrived at it's new home at the Museum of Flight.

This aircraft (nose # N7001U) was the first one off the assembly line and delivered to United in 1964.

Twenty Five years ago United donated it to the Museum of Flight and they have been restoring it at Paine Field 's Boeing Facility in Everett, WA since then.  The museum invited United Flight Attendants and Pilots who worked the B727's to the ceremony to welcome the plane to the museum.  It was a fantastic and well attended event.

The museum had a live video so we could watch the take off from Paine Field.  Right after take off the United employees were invited outside to watch it land at Boeing Field, Seattle, WA. where the museum is located.  The entire flight took 15 minutes.  Several flight attendants greeted the crew with flowers then the pilots signed the plane, a Museum of Flight tradition, before we moved inside for an award ceremony and cupcakes.

Seattle F/A Legacy Celebration Party

August 16, 2015 at Normandy Park

Diane Tucker and her crew of volunteers put on a wonderful party.  It was well attended with over 300 guests.  There was lots of catching up, stories to tell and updates to be heard from friends. Needless to say there was a lot of laughter.  It was nice to have former management attend as well as pilots.  We all know the Seattle domicile was a special place with very special people.  It will live on in our friendships and memories. Scroll down for more photos.
